3 years ago, I was honored to be asked to join the British Chamber of Commerce Singapore (BritCham) #BuiltEnvironment committee for CBRE Singapore ...
...3 years later I am still honored to be a member and represent this fantastic initiative.
I have always believed we are 'Stronger Together'. Sharing not just ideas, insights and expertise but #commerce and #business, across borders is hugely beneficial for everyone who embraces this philosophy. The British Chamber of Commerce is a key facilitator of this, enabling opportunities for both the #UK and #Singapore.
For businesses or individuals interested in joining, I can highly recommend doing so. My time in the chamber has been both incredibly useful and enjoyable. Please do reach out to David Kelly or myself for more information.
Finally, a huge thank you to Chamber Executive Director David Kelly , BE committee lead Alisdair Gillies MRICS and fellow members including Andy Marr, Duncan Fletcher Payne, Michelle Mitchell, Ben Moo, Joel Tng and more for always sharing their insights and support.

Over the last 7 months at the Chamber, my favourite moment is still ‘The Future of Trade: Insights from the UK-Southeast Asia Trade Digitalisation Pilots Initiative’ event which we hosted in April this year. The opportunity to be involved in the event planning right from choosing a location and putting together the guestlist, to delivering the event, it was a really valuable learning experience for me. We were grateful to have the attendance of both the previous High Commissioner to Singapore, Kara Owen, and His Majesty’s Trade Commissioner for APAC Martin Kent at the event, as well as a film crew on-site throughout to capture interviews with the guests. This meant there were lots of different parts to coordinate, but it was so rewarding to see the event delivered successfully and the video content that was captured. This project has been a big part of my work with Chamber so far and I am really grateful to have had the opportunity to assist in the delivery of some of these key moments.

My favourite moment with the Chamber was when I planted 2 trees on with members on Earth Day this year!
Colleagues, members and friends from the British Chamber of Commerce Singapore (BritCham) came together on Monday to plant 70 trees to celebrate the Chamber's 70th anniversary and Earth Day 2024.
Planting a tree has always been on my bucket list. I spent a lot of time in nature as a Scout in school. Some of the advantages of being a student-led Scout group are loads of jungle bashing, tree climbing, night trekking and camping. That meant my friends and I knew the lay of the land, the environment, trees and plants and thriving in the great outdoors. Come to think of it, it was a huge privilege to spend my childhood exploring more of the wild rather than manicured nature.
I never planted a tree before even though I spent all that time in the woods. It can be difficult to do so in Singapore where our trees are all accounted for and taken care of. Our delicate ecology also means random seed dispersal may impact the environment in undesirable ways for other plants and animals.
I’m thankful to the Chamber and National Parks Board for the opportunity to be part of the wider #OneMillionTree and sustainability movement to regreen Singapore with one million trees in this decade. And what better way to get one off the bucket list, than to plant trees with friends and colleagues, which I’m hopeful will stand in the next 70 years and beyond.
